Rebels 13u had a solid weekend of baseball playing in the All World “Memorial Day” tournament in Fremont over the Memorial Day weekend.
The boys played 4 pool play games on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, they played Bay Area Hustle 13u and ended up winning 9-6. They scored all 9 runs in the 4th inning. In game 2, they faced Aldrete Baseball 13u of Salinas and won 6-0. Sunday, they lost one and tied one, playing solid defense and pitching against two real tough teams. In game 1, they played Boys of Summer 13u and lost 5-3 in a hard fought battle. After giving up 4 runs in the 1st, Rebels kept it close and chipped away at the lead, but just fell short. In game 2, the boys tied Brentwood Blast Red 13u, 2-2, in an exciting game. It was a well played game on both sides and the Rebels went into the bottom of the last inning down 1 run. With 1 out, boys executed a bunt and run which resulted in the runner on 1b getting to 3b, and then scoring on a overthrow to 3b to tie the game. The 2-1-1 record in pool play, earned them the #3 seed going into the playoffs Monday.
On Monday, they faced #2 seed, South County Toros, in the semi final game on Monday morning. The boys lost a hard fought semi finals game to #2 seed South County Toros. It was a stellar defensive and pitching performance for both teams that went to the Toro’s, 1-0. Boys had a very solid defensive/pitching tournament, only giving up 14 runs in 5 games and going 2-2-1 for the weekend.
Boys will take the field again this Thursday (5/30) at 6pm at Borman Field in Yountville to face the Napa Riverdogs in the last game of the Athletic Edge Spring league and then again on Saturday (6/1) at 9:30 in the first playoff game for their spring league
