The Rebels played in week 3 of the tournament and there were 52 team from across the country there to complete. The team checked into their bunk house on Saturday 6/16 and settled in that day and participated in the opening ceremonies and skills competitions that first night

Sunday 6/17 brought the 1st day of games. The Rebels played 2 games that first day, and the Rebels finished 1-1. In the first game this morning, 7:30am, the boys got off to a rough start. They ended up losing to the South Shore Rockets from Florida, 16-2. Cam got a nice HR.

In game 2, the boys faced off against Top Tier Baseball from Chicago, IL, and played a solid, all around game. It was close, all along, but the Rebels never gave up the lead. They ended up winning 10-7. Cam got another HR, and Demetrio contributed with 2 HR’s. Solid pitching by Jaylen, followed by Nathan and then Tony “Cheddar Cheese” for the save.

Monday 6/18 was day 2 of games and the boys went finished 1-1 again on Monday. In the first game Monday, the boys got off to a hot start and never looked back. They beat Huntley from Illinois 11-10, in a game that went down to the wire. Rebels had a 11-7 lead, going into the bottom of the last inning. A 3 run HR by Huntley cut the Rebels lead to 11-10. With 1 out, a great run down from Catcher Demetrio P got them the 2nd out. With the tying run on 2b, Cam I struck out the batter and sealed the win. Demetrio P got a nice HR in the game. In the 2nd game of the day, the Rebels faced off against HAVOC Baseball from So Cal. The game was stopped in the 1st inning for thunderstorms....and during that break, a spontaneous dance off busted out between the two teams. Once the game resumed, it was a real good game, except for 1 bad inning by the Rebels, when they gave up 5 runs. The Rebels ended up losing 7 to 1. Solid pitching By Demetrio, Cam and Darius.

Tuesday 6/19 was the end of pool play for the Cooperstown All Star Village tournament. The Rebels played two games on Tuesday and went 1-1.  In the first game, the Rebels faced off against Unitah from Utah. The Rebels bats were quiet for 5 innings and the Rebels trailed 5-0 going into the bottom of the last inning. With 2 outs in the bottom of the last inning, the Rebels mounted a heroic comeback. They cut the lead to 5-4, and had runners on 1st and 2nd base. Niko R came up and got a base hit, but the tying run was called out at the plate on a very controversial call. Replay from live stream showed the runner safe. The Rebels ended up, losing 5-4.  In the 2nd game of the day, the boys faced Hawks Gold from Michigan. Rebels got up 3-0 in the 1st inning and never gave up the lead. Going. Into the last inning, the Rebels were up 12-7 and the Hawks score 1 run and had bases loaded with 2 outs. But the Rebels got the last out and ended up with the 12-8 win. Demetrio and Cam each had big HR's in the game.

So, the Rebels 12u ended pool play at 3-3 which earned them the #30 seed for the bracket play.

Wednesday 6/20, was the beginning of bracket play and the Rebels lost a heart breaker in their first Bracket play game. The #30 seed Rebels played the #35 seed Unitah from Utah this morning.  This was a rematch from the earlier Rebels loss during pool play. The Rebels were down 2-1, going into the bottom of the 5th inning and scored 1 to tie it up. Both teams didn't score in the 6th inning so game went to extra innings. Both teams battled until Unitah scored 3 runs in the top of the 8th.  The Rebels came up in bottom of 8th and got two quick outs. They then scored a run. Bringing it to 5-3. They then put runners on 2nd and 3rd, but weren't able to get them in. Rebels lost 5-3 and out of the championship bracket

With the early loss from the championship bracket, the Rebels did get another opportunity to play by being invited to compete in the Monster bracket that would start on Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday 6/21 in the morning, the team and families made the 30 minute drive up to Cooperstown and paid homage to the Major League Baseball National Hall of Fame and learned about the amazing history behind the game.  They rushed back from the hall of fame to play their last Monster bracket game, which pitted them against Team Judah White from CA on Thursday 6/21.  Boys just didn’t have any more gas in the tank and lost 10-4 to Team Judah from CA.

Afterwards, they hung out as a team to enjoy their last night together. They played some whiffle ball and football and then participated in the closing ceremonies and ended the night watching the championship game and post game firework show.

It was an amazing trip. The boys got even closer than before and met a lot of great young men from across the country and couple that with competing against some of the best teams across the country.
